Interfacing
IMMMULITE® 2000
to Total Laboratory Automation
Laboratory
Automation Systems (LAS), sometimes referred to as Total Lab Automation
(TLA), are providing today's large, busy laboratories with labor-saving,
hands-off patient sample processing. These track-based, sample handling/transport
systems can be configured to automate either all or part of the preanalytical
and postanalytical phases of the sample handling process.
"Modular
work cells" efficiently consolidate laboratory work stations and platforms,
rather than the entire laboratory, by linking two or more instruments
in a "cell" or "island" configuration using a sample transport system
(track) and a single controller. The modular automated approach to workstation
consolidation allows the operator to introduce samples into the work cell
via the track. Data and sample information are collated by the controller
PC, which is interfaced with a laboratory information system (LIS). Samples
are automatically routed by the controller to the appropriate instrument
for processing, thereby increasing daily workstation throughput and operator
walk-away time.
In
partnership with LAB-InterLink, Inc., DPC is developing a universal LAS
interface for the IMMULITE 2000 immunochemistry system. The interface
will allow one or more IMMULITE 2000 systems to be linked directly to
any LAS available for installation in an automated laboratory. Furthermore,
DPC will offer complete work cell modules to provide a flexible and configurable
approach to workstation and platform consolidation, allowing customized
linking of two or more of DPC's immunochemistry systems, in partnership
with LAB-InterLink, Inc.
Please
contact your local DPC Sales Representative for further information on
how the IMMULITE 2000 LAS interface can provide state-of-the-art technology
to improve the quality and efficiency of patient testing in your laboratory.
