New CD Explores Androgen Measurements
and Facilitates Calculations

DPC is pleased to offer a new CD, Exploring the Androgen Equation: Testosterone. This functional and educational tool makes available to the medical community user-friendly calculators facilitating the joint assessment of testosterone and SHBG levels in adults.

In addition to the calculators, the CD includes a variety of complementary educational materials addressing clinical and technical issues. Some of these documents were drawn from existing DPC technical reports, scientific posters and News & Views articles; several others were composed specifically for this CD. The biological overviews provide concise outlines of major causes of androgen deficiency and excess in men and women along with associated disorders. The overviews also note the potential utility of total testosterone measurements and several calculated values: calculated free testosterone (cFT) and bioavailable testosterone (BAT), as well as the traditional free androgen index (FAI). A glossary is provided in the form of roll-over definitions within the text and as a separate section.

A mass and molar units conversion chart, other helpful tables and diagnostic flowcharts round out the CD's offerings. There are also links to DPC's website for additional product information.
