Dr. Bossuyt Receives Sigi Ziering Award
at AACC Meeting

Patrick
M. Bossuyt, Ph.D., Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics,
Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is
the 2004 recipient of the Sigi Ziering Award for Outstanding Contribution
for a Publication in the Journal Clinical Chemistry. He was recognized
for the Standards for Reporting of Diagnostic Accuracy (STARD) initiative*
that he spearheaded.
The STARD
group compiled a checklist and prototypical flow diagram to assist in
reporting results of studies that evaluate diagnostic test accuracy. The
group intends to update its statement in the future, when necessary, on
the basis of the statement's effect on the reporting of studies, as well
as new information and feedback. The AACC's journal Clinical Chemistry
has added the checklist and flow diagram to its recommendations for authors.
DPC sponsors
the Sigi Ziering Award, an AACC award that recognizes the paper published
in Clinical Chemistry during the preceding calendar year that most
significantly advances clinical laboratory science and laboratory medicine.
